Notre père parmi les saints '''Marc d'Éphèse''' (Evgenikos), Collonne de l'Orthodoxie, a été un célébre et courageux [[défenseur de l'Orthodoxie]] lors du [[Concile de Florence]] (1439 A.D.), où [[Jean VIII Paléologue|empereur]] et le [[Eugenius IV de Rome|pape de Rome]] allaient vers le [[schisme]] et l'[[hérèsie]], par l'acceptation de l'adage [[Filioque]] dans le [[Credo de Nicée-Constantinople]] et par les prétention de juridiction universelle de la [[papauté]]. A l'epoque, Marc d'Éphèse a été le seul [[évêque]] orthodoxe qui a refusé de signer les décrets de ce [[concil]].
He died peacefully in the year 1452 A.D. On his death bed, Mark implored Gregory, his disciple, and later Patriarch [[Gennadius II (Scholarius) of Constantinople|Gennadius]], to be careful of the snares of the West and to defend Orthodoxy.
